On February 6-9 a Lviv sculptor Myroslav Dedyshyn will take part in Crystal Garden, International ice-carving competition in Ottawa. “At the ice-carving competition in Ottawa there are different categories – singles, pairs and one-block challenge. Being in a singles category in a period of 28 hours and using electric device I will have to make a composition named “Angel” which will consist of 8 blocks of ice. No help is allowed: it’s necessary to glue blocks so that they are unbroken, carve out a figure and keep in mind that it is also unbroken. There is “Angel” composition in bronze but ice is an interesting material which makes a sculpture clear and light”, Myroslav Dedyshyn said. Myroslav Dedyshyn was born on Hutsulshchyna, lives in Lviv. His sculptures are mainly made from bronze or wooden, rarely from cement or iron, sometimes from stone, ice or terracotta or combination of different materials. Sculptures are mostly of interior size. Themes: male and female acts, animals, angels, sport, zodiac signs, portraits, myth, erotica, jokes. He is interested in space graphics. On February 20-22 a team of all four Ukrainian fine art experts will participate in the 4th National Snow Sculpture Festival in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. During their stay in Canada Ukrainian fine art experts will have a range of meetings with representatives of Ukrainian community in Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa.
