Press Release

March 3, 2009 - The League of Ukrainian Canadians (LUC) and Ucrainica Research Institute (Ucrainica) will be the only two Ukrainian Canadian organizations participating in the Manning Networking Conference from March 12 to March 14, 2009 in Ottawa at the Westin Hotel. The Manning Centre for Building Democracy is organizing the Manning Networking Conference & Exhibition 2009 to enrich networking and learning opportunities.

The League of Ukrainian Canadians and Ucrainica Research Institute will have an Exhibit Booth for promotion of awareness on the Holodomor and other important Ukrainian Canadian issues. The Ukrainian community in Ottawa is welcome to come and support us during the designated Exhibition time slots that are open to the public.

The Exhibition time slots are as follows:

Friday, March 13, 2009 -  7:00am-9:00am;  10:15am-11:00am;  3:00pm-3:30pm.

Saturday, March 14, 2009 -  8:00am-9:00am;  10:30am-11:00am;  12:30pm-1:30pm; 3:00pm-3:30pm;  4:30pm-5:00pm.

The LUC’s and Ucrainica’s participation in this Conference and Exhibition will undoubtedly broaden the spectrum of knowledge for all the participants about issues most significant to Ukrainian Canadians. In return, LUC and Ucrainica will learn how to work closely with Canadian NGOs in order to represent more effectively Ukrainian Canadian community interests in Canada. “This is an opportunity for us to become more visible among other Canadian organizations that will come to the capital, but it also allows us to begin raising issues at a new level, issues that are at the heart of the Ukrainian community” says Volodymyr Paslavskyi, Executive Director of the League of Ukrainian Canadians. “My colleagues and I are looking forward to this learning experience, because we feel that we can make valuable contributions to the development and improvement of Canadian society” he concludes.

The League of Ukrainian Canadians (LUC) is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to the continued growth and development of a prosperous Ukrainian community in Canada.
